OUR STORY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Originally founded as one of Miami's first coworking spaces, The LAB emerged as a gathering place for early tech pioneers, entrepreneurs, and creatives who were inspired by the city's potential as a future innovation hub.

Today, The LAB Miami continues to be the connector in our local tech community. Our mission is to create an inspiring tech hub in Miami, bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who are passionate about building meaningful businesses and driving positive change.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Miami has grown up fast but still lacks a safe space for collaborative innovation. The LAB Miami was born out of the desire to connect the city's thriving creative and entrepreneurial communities to generate a better, shared future for all.

2012

Miami ranks in the top 5 of Kauffman's Entrepreneurial Index but lacks unity. The LAB Miami opens to bridge connections across Miami's budding ecosystem and launches first-of-its-kind resources.

2016

Miami breaks the top 10 US metros for VC funding as the community matures. Local organizations lead a transformational charge to transform Miami from a tourist destination to a global business hub.

2020

The pandemic drives new talent and global capital to Miami, accompanied by positive growing pains. The city welcomes these opportunities with open arms but lacks the legs to ensure equitable and sustainable growth.

2024+

Miami is on the rise as a global tech hub status and continues to attract new players but old patterns reemerge. The LAB Miami refines its mission to emphasize innovation stewardship and a deeper commitment to the City's long term position and goals.
