How to Grow an Email List |Growth Hacking Email

Businessman and founder of Famous Amos cookies Wally Amos once stated, “Email is the greatest thing,” and for many entrepreneurs it is. Studies have shown that email that the average ROI for every $1 spent on email marketing is $38-40. At this year’s Miami Growth Hacking Summit Jennifer Litorja, head of Ecosystem Development for Sendgrid, demonstrated the true power held within email communication.

Sendgrid is a customer communication platform for transactional and marketing emails. Their mission is to “make it effortless for developers and marketers to craft, segment, test, and successfully deliver all of their email, no matter the use case: purchase confirmations, password reset instructions, an upcoming sale, or a nurture campaign.”

Based on Sendgrid and Litorja’s expertise here are some tips to expand your email list:

1. Optimize Email Opt-in

Don’t bury your sign up on your site. Make it clear that an email address is all you need. Try to link prizes and free incentives with your sign up in order to increase participation.

2. Provide your customer with multiple opportunities to sign up

Leave sign-ups on blogs, your homepage, and subpages. Pop-ups can also be a useful opportunity for sign ups if used sparingly.

3. Send a confirmation

Use a consistent template to let your customers know that their sign up is valid. Have a clear call to action within your email and include buttons for your social media.

4. Create an attractive welcome series       

 

5.  Fill emails with valuable content

Attract clicks with short subject lines; keep them no more than 3-5 words. Include images and visual media.

6. Create an email preference center
